Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark/Daniel Ezralow
Daniel approached me in Fall 2010 to handle the press for his choreography for “Spiderman: Turn off the Dark.” Wow! Spiderman! I suggested, however, since the show has so much movement, he convince the producers to hire me, which they did until the show’s opening seemed terminally postponed and Daniel and Julie Taymor were sidelined. The Arts & Leisure profile of him that I had organized was postponed. I was determined to keep it alive. When Daniel was hired to choreograph a major new “Nutcracker” for the Shanghai Ballet, I had the story resurrected. It ran the week the ballet opened. Though Daniel is one of the most sought-after independent choreographers in the world, he’d never made it into The New York Times before.
