Eifman Ballet of St. Peterburg

Both loved and detested by New York dance writers for his Cecil B. DeMille emotional extravagance, Boris Eifman’s ballets draw on the great figures in literature, music, history and dance, whom take center stage with all their theatrical and flamboyant drama, sexual passion, spiritual and psychological torment.  Anna Karenina, Don Quixote, Rodin, Tchaikovsky, Spesivtseva, Don Juan, and the Karamazovs are just some of the dramatic subjects of his full-evening ballets.  Working with a Russian ballet company filled with its own off-stage drama became yet another learning experience in international relations.
